Overview

Signature African Art announces a new solo exhibition, In Our Days by celebrated Nigerian artist Oluwole Omofemi.

Entitled In Our Days, the exhibition will be arranged across the gallery’s basement and ground floors, and is formed of 15 large-scale portraits of women and children, as well as a number of smaller works specially commissioned by the gallery.

In our days art exhibition is a reflection of changes and evolvements that have happened overtime from the past generation up to this time particularly among African women and how they successfully metamorphosed, blend with the trend as well as equally taking the lead in matters relating to some societal issues that has to do with love, beauty, fashion, emancipation of women amongst others.

Back in the days, African women generally lack the confidence and boldness to openly express or lend their voices in some issues which include but not limited to having a protest over their rights, showcasing their beauty or expressing love to the opposite sex due to criticisms that may unfold from different quarters. However, things have dratiscally changed in our days as women are tired of taking the back seat.

Consequently, the artist while telling his story through his creativity and use of colours was able to showcase these societal changes and equally captured the elegant and sumptuous beauty of African women in his paintings.
