Biography
John Ogbeta was born on the 25th of September 1971 in Lagos. John Ogbeta is a mixed media artist and painter who attended Auchi Polytechnic 1992-1998. Majored in painting (HND), presently a full-time studio artist residing in Lagos. A member of SNA and a member of Art zero group.
John Ogbeta’ style is known for its expressive quality and decorative design. His works elevate the formal status of painting by combining various elements, jute rope,collages made out from processed plastic bags and coloured textiles. The result is the hard edge relief base that defines carefully woven braids, oval shape face, elongated noses and heavy eyes.
